Happy Book Birthday Pride & Prep School!

Happy release week, Stephanie Wardrop! If y'all don't know Stephanie, you should. She's a college professor, a fantastic author... and she's got the snarkiest young adult voice I've read since Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries. I fell in love with her Pride & Prejudice re-telling from the first page of Snark and Circumstance, and I've been following her books ever since. And now...

Yesterday was Pride and Prep School's book birthday and we're celebrating with a Scavenger Hunt and Amazon gift card giveaway! (Pride and Prep School is the third installment in Stephanie's Snark and Circumstance enovella series--a modern, snarky YA re-telling of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.)

Here's how to play:

Go to Stephanie's blog for questions from all three enovellas. One coordinating photo answer will be featured on each of our participating blogs. Once you've matched the questions to the photos,  go to Stephanie's post and share your answers in Stephanie's comments section. (For example: Q 1: a bird; Q 2: a burrito, ect.) Each correct answer gives you one entry into the drawing to win a $20 Amazon gift card! (If you're unsure about answers, Snark and Circumstance and Charm and Consequence are only 99 cents each right now on Amazon--links are below!)

The Pride and Prep School Scavenger Hunt will run from today, Wednesday, October 16th through Sunday, October 20th

Stephanie will post a winner on her blog Tuesday, October 22nd.

Are you ready? Then let's get started!

Shadow Born by Nicole Camp

Introducing Shadow Born, by Nicole Camp!

Eighteen-year-old Raffin has been in hiding on Earth since before he was born, but he's more comfortable in the shadows anyway. He's part of one of the most hated races in the universe. It's a secret he's forced to keep from everyone he meets. On his first day at a new high school, Arianna al crashes into his world, literally. One tumble on the track field and suddenly she's acting like they're best friends. Worse, Raffin doesn't mind her invading his shadows -- and that's before he realizes she knows his secret. But, she's not quite human, herself and her very life force is what Raffin needs to survive.
Can he trust her to keep his secret? Can he trust himself with Ari when his body yearns to drain her soul? Assailed by memories of death and destruction that aren't his own, Raffin has to come to terms with the truth. He is shadow born.
And now, I'll hand things over to Nicole for some Fun and Random Interview Questions with Kurtax of SHADOW BORN:

First, thank you to ST Bende for having myself and Kurtax as guests on her blog. I’m Nicole Camp, and I’ll be interviewing Kurtax Of Aria from the book “Shadow Born” releasing October 14th through Entranced Publishing. The Prince Regent has kindly taken time out of his busy schedule and agreed to answer some fun questions for us on this blog post today.
Kurtax: First of all, I’m not really a Prince, my brother is the one in line for the throne, not me. Second, my schedule isn’t as busy as you might think, but even if it was, I know you’d have found some way to get me on here to talk.
*flashes a small smile*

Me: Alright Kurtax, are you ready to start the interview?

Kurtax: Don’t make it too painful for me. I’m kidding. So what are your questions?

Me: Well, lets start off by asking what is your favorite food?

Kurtax: Anything sweet. I have a big sweet tooth.

Me: Really? So you’re a sugar fiend when you’re on Earth then? You know, I think I heard that somewhere in one of my other interviews.

Kurtax: Probably from Raffin or Sev. And yes, I like candy and stuff when I visit Earth. It’s addictive.

Me: I’m addicted to ice cream, so you are not alone. Now, next fun and funky question; of all the characters in Shadow Born, if you were trapped on a deserted island with one of them, who would you prefer to be stuck with and why?

Kurtax: Okay, so there’s no ship, and we can’t like teleport off the island or anything, right?

Me: That’s correct, you are stuck.

Kurtax: I’ve been in that kind of place before, not really an island, but a dark place where no one wants to be stuck for what seems like eternity. I wouldn’t want anyone to be there with me long term.

Me: Okay, not exactly the response I was expecting, but still a good one. Moving on. You’re a hot and single hunk in this series, what is your idea of an incredibly romantic date?

Kurtax: Yeah pass on that one.

Me: You don’t get to pass on this. It’s an easy one. Come on, at least tell us what an ideal date is for you.

Kurtax: An ideal date is spending hours talking with someone and not even realizing the time is passing. It’s the magic that happens in those moments when you find someone so amazing and just totally hit it off and connect on so many levels. And that’s all you’re getting out of me.

Me: Yeah, I think our readers just swooned a little.

Kurtax: Next question.
*clears his throat*

Me: If you could go on a date with with someone famous, who would it be and why?

Kurtax: Enough with the dating questions. Ask me something worth asking already.

Me: Okay, do you have a favorite song?

Kurtax: No. But I didn’t listen to music much when I was young, or over the years for certain obvious reasons. Some of which can be found in my story, Shadow’s Rising which will give you some hints to what’s coming in Shadow Born at https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/301172

Me: Alright next question, if you could live anywhere, where would it be?

Kurtax: I like living in the City of Aria. I spent so much time away from home, when I didn’t want to be, that if it weren’t for memories of the past I would be totally content to be there all the time.

Me: So home is where the heart is for you then?

Kurtax: I think it’s the other way around, more like ‘the heart is where the home is’ - meaning that as long as you are with loved ones, you are home. Period.

Me: Why don’t you tell us five things about yourself that we probably don’t know yet.

Kurtax: Oh boy...

1.) On a very rare occasion, I get air sick in hovercraft. I don’t know why, probably because I never had a good experience riding in one when I was Infected and things bleak and dark on Navea.
2.) I’m not only very opinionated, I’m also stubborn. But I mean well when I stand my ground on something.
3.) I can’t believe I’m telling you this, but I’m a little envious of Sev, my brother. I don’t think I’ll ever live up to his character or patience. He is the most patient man I know.
4.) I hate having women follow me around. They see me and it’s like I’m just this face that they’re instantly fascinated by and attracted to when they don’t even know me.
5.) I am not a hero, or the greatest warrior who ever lived. I don’t care what Raffin Tys thinks, I was just stupid when I was young, and it got me into more danger and trouble than anyone could have imagined in the end.

Me: Okay, I’m going to ask a more personal question this time.

Kurtax: Really, it gets more personal that this?
*hint of sarcasm to his voice*

Me: If you had a choice to go back to the beginning and change your actions, maybe not leave the safety of Aria’s walls in the first place that fateful day, would you?

Kurtax: No. Never. My family wouldn’t be the same, and a lot of other things would be forever changed for the worse. So no, no matter how much pain I’ve experienced through the centuries, I wouldn’t do anything differently.

Well, maybe I wouldn’t have been so quick to judge Raffin at first glance, but other than that, no I wouldn’t change things.

Me: What is your greatest fear, Kurtax?

Kurtax: Pass on that one.

Me: You’re not allowed to pass on that one either.

Kurtax: Fine, my greatest fear is that there is something out there worse than Salcon. There aren’t words for what he was, saying he was an evil tyrant, who hurt so many people is the understatement of the century. And I just hope there isn’t a greater evil than he was.

-Well that’s it for the interview questions, thank you so much ST Bende for having us as guests on the blog! :)

Norse Gods Birthday Blogfest

Hei hei, y'all. Velkommen to the Nors Gods Birthday Blogfest.

Fellow Norse writer Siv Maria Ottem has a double whammy today --she's celebrating a birthday and a book birthday. Secrets of the Ash Tree released today on Amazon, and it stars one of my favorite Norse goddesses, Freya. Siv asked me to celebrate with her by sharing my favorite Norse God, but I have to confess -- there's no way I could choose just one. Of course I'm partial to Thor -- he once dressed as a bride to save his beloved Mjolnir, and by the way have you seen Chris Hemsworth? ;) And there's a particularly soft spot in my heart for his stepson Ull, the God of Winter. (You can get to know him in Elsker or over on Twitter @ullmyhr.) Tom Hiddleston may have swayed me over to Team Loki once or twice. And don't get me started on the goddesses . . . a warrior Goddess of Love who rides into a battle on a chariot pulled by cats (Freya)? A Goddess of Beauty with hair made of actual gold (Sif)? That absolute genius, Idunn?

That's the awesomeness of the Norse myths -- each character is complex, fascinating, and even more tantalizing than the last. So what about y'all? Do you have a favorite Norse god?

Happy double birthdays, Siv!
