Tempting Fate by Amalia T. Dillin

Today I'm super excited to show off my writer-friend Amalia T. Dillin. When fellow Indie Ignites contributor and indie author, Nazarea Andrews, introduced me to the queen of #ThorLove, I was stoked. She's a fantastic writer, a great source of mythological knowledge, and a fellow fan of our favorite Norse gods. What's not to love?

Amalia's got a brand new book out, and you need to run out and pick it up rightnow. How fab does this sound?

Mia's lived in her sister's shadow long enough. Now that Abby is getting married to a Frenchman, Mia scents freedom. In fact, Jean DeLeon, the groom's too-charming cousin, seems like the perfect place to start. But the House of Lions is full of secrets, and what started out as an exciting fling is quickly becoming more frustration than fun. Mia wants answers, or she wants out, and it isn't like she doesn’t have other options. Ethan Hastings, for example. Tall, handsome, and gray eyes like nothing she's ever seen before.

The fact that Jean seems to hate him is just a bonus.

Tempting Fate is an e-novella that takes place during the events of Forged by Fate, the first book in the Fate of the Gods trilogy! Learn more about the series by following the links, or check out! You can also find the author on twitter (@AmaliaTd) and Facebook.

Now check out this fab piece by Ms. Dillin:

When Thor Isn’t Our Hero

Like ELSKER, TEMPTING FATE is the story of a girl who gets caught up in a world of gods she never knew existed. But unlike ELSKER, Mia is more of an innocent bystander than someone who belongs. She has no idea what she’s gotten herself into, and worse, those gods? They’re *really* invested in keeping her from finding out.

Mia is protected, in some part, by her ignorance, and by her very normalness. She’s just a girl who’s looking for love, and she isn’t going to let any family, no matter how old or wealthy or charming, tell her where she can and can’t find it. Certainly she isn’t going to give a second thought to the glowering disapproval of a god she doesn’t realize exists. This is her journey, and her choice, and nothing is going to stand in the way of her happily ever after. Not even the gods.

Thor isn’t exactly an antagonist, but he definitely isn’t interested in making Mia’s love life any easier. He’s there to do a job, and Mia is getting in the way. Bad enough that she’s become interested in secrets the House of Lions has kept for millennia, but when she ditches her escort, Jean, and falls for an even more mysterious stranger named Ethan, she causes a whole new world of trouble for Thor.

Mia’s story is different from the rest of the Fate of the Gods series, but I think it’s an important story to tell – not only for Mia, who deserves to have her story told, but also to give us another perspective that isn’t so... immortal. What’s it like living as the younger sister of a perfect woman? A goddess of love, by some accounts? And what does Thor look like when he isn’t exactly on your side? When his focus is on keeping you in the dark, instead of protecting you?

In TEMPTING FATE, you’ll find out!

Amalia Dillin began as a Biology major before taking Latin and falling in love with old heroes and older gods. After that, she couldn't stop writing about them, with the occasional break for more contemporary subjects. She lives in upstate New York with her husband, and dreams of the day when she will own goats -- to pull her chariot through the sky, of course.
